2011/03/14 The College is pleased to offer new Educational Forums for members, which will take place in May. This initiative is in response to members who want to stay connected to the College but are unable to attend the Annual Meeting and Education Day in Toronto. This year, we will be hosting forums in Thunder Bay, Ontario on May 3, 2011 and Windsor, Ontario on May 10, 2011. If you live in Windsor, Thunder Bay, or the surrounding areas, we hope that you will join us for an afternoon to learn, connect and converse with your professional peers. The forums will commence at noon with a buffet lunch, which will be followed by a College update and keynote address. The forums are free for members and are a benefit of membership in the College. This year’s keynote speaker in Thunder Bay is Doctor Ed Rawana, Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Lakehead University. Dr. Rawana’s presentation is entitled Waking the Giant in the Person: Working with strengths. The presentation will discuss the development of personality starting at a young age and proceeding through the life span. In Windsor, the keynote address will be from board members of the Crisis Workers Society of Ontario: Greg Clarke, RSSW; Amanda Conrad, RSW and Guy Doucet, RSW. Entitled Crisis Systems: A review of the functions of crisis, spectrum of crisis services, and how and when to access crisis care, the presentation will review the feature of crisis response service, the spectrum of services available, and how and when to access these services. To ensure your attendance, we encourage you to register as soon as possible. In order to register, or for more information, please go to http://www.ocswssw.org/Educational_Forums.htm
