The OCSWSSW was established in 2000 and is a professional regulatory body established under the Social Work and Social Service Work Act, 1998. The College is accountable to the Minister of Community and Social Services and its primary mandate is the protection of the public with regard to the delivery of social work and social service work services. It is the responsibility of the College to regulate social work and social service work practice and to govern its members in accordance with the Act, Regulations and Bylaws. The College currently has over 19,000 members.
