Reporting to the Registrar, the Deputy Registrar is the second most senior position at the College and a member of the management team. The Deputy Registrar has administrative and operational oversight of several key functions of the College as well as the responsibility for creating, maintaining and evaluating the administrative and physical infrastructure required to support the mandate and mission of the College. The Deputy Registrar is an officer of the College and is the Acting Registrar in the Registrar’s absence.
Depending on the specific skill set of the successful candidate and in consultation with the Registrar, the Deputy Registrar assumes primary responsibility for approximately half of the following key functions of the College:
- Registration
- Finance
- Office Management
- Information Technology
- Member Services
- Complaints & Discipline
- Professional Practice and Education
- Communications & Publications
The following statutory and administrative responsibilities will be shared with the Registrar:
- The Registrar’s registration responsibilities as outlined in Section 18 of the SWSSWA;
- Promotion and maintenance of constructive relationships with key external stakeholders; including government;
- Ongoing development of a positive organizational culture that values staff;
- Review, monitoring and direction of the financial performance of the College.
The successful candidate has strong leadership and interpersonal skills, and is able to work both independently and as a member of a team. S/he must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent judgment and well-developed written and verbal communication skills. Experience in professional regulation with at least eight years of progressive management experience, an in-depth understanding of regulation, and a commitment to the work and mandate of the College are essential.
The ideal candidate will also have experience in the following areas: finance, information technology, human resources, project management and regulation. Eligibility for registration with the OCSWSSW would be an asset, and a graduate degree in social work or another relevant field is a requirement.
