Does the College require members to engage in ongoing professional development each year?
Yes. As part of its public protection mandate, the College requires members to engage in ongoing learning through its Continuing Competence Program (CCP). Based on an adult education model, the CCP requires members to:
- Review the Standards of Practice every year.
- Complete a self-assessment based on those principles.
- Set goals and carry out learning activities based on their self-assessment.
The College’s CCP was launched in 2009 and revised in 2017. The CCP remains an important quality assurance program for the College and is one of the ways the College assures the public that members continually enhance their knowledge and remain current in their practice.
