On Thursday, May 28, 2020, the College will hold an election for registered social workers and registered social service workers in Electoral District No. 3.
Electoral District No. 3 is composed of the geographic area within the territorial boundaries of the Counties of Haliburton, Victoria, Peterborough, Northumberland and Simcoe, the Regional Municipalities of Durham, York and Peel and the City of Toronto.
In January, the College invited all members eligible to vote in Electoral District No. 3 to put their names forward as candidates for election to the College Council.
What do Council members do?
The College Council comprises seven social workers and seven social service workers who are elected by members of the College. Another seven Public members are appointed by the Lieutenant Governor. An election is held in a different district in May of each year.
Council members’ responsibilities include:
- Developing policies to regulate the practice of social work and social service work that reflect the College’s primary duty to serve and protect the public interest.
- Governing and managing the affairs of the College.
- Attending approximately four Council meetings annually and sit on at least one statutory committee.
The College will announce the results following the election. For more information, please visit our website.
