The College recently held an election of Council members in Electoral District No. 3. The Electoral District No. 3 is composed of the geographic area within the territorial boundaries of the Counties of Haliburton, Victoria, Peterborough, Northumberland and Simcoe, the Regional Municipalities of Durham, York and Peel and the City of Toronto.

Role of the Council
The Council is the 21-member governing body and board of directors that manages and administers College affairs. The Council is composed of:
- Seven social workers who are members of the College and who are elected by the members of the College in accordance with the bylaws.
- Seven social service workers who are members of the College and who are elected by the members of the College in accordance with the bylaws.
- Seven persons who are appointed by the Ontario Government.
The College Council’s primary governance function is policy development. The policies approved by Council play an important role in regulating the practice of social work and social service work and reflect the College’s primary mandate to protect the public interest. The Council also governs and manages the affairs of the College by establishing goals and policies in accordance with relevant legislation and the College’s mission, vision and values.
