DEI Task Group Meeting Highlights – November 15, 2022

  • Chisanga Chekwe, Public Member, shared some of his reflections on his own learnings and experiences with respect to Reconciliation and the land.
  • Task Group Co-Chair, Brian Seng-Low, welcomed Task Group members to the meeting.
  • The minutes from the September 20, 2022 meeting of the Task Group were reviewed.
  • Lise Betteridge, Registrar and CEO, advised the Task Group that Council approved amendments to Bylaw No. 1 which added the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee to the College’s list of non-statutory committees.
  • Lise Betteridge, Registrar and CEO, informed the Task Group that at its next meeting, the Executive Committee will consider a motion to dissolve the Task Group and a recommendation to appoint current members to the newly-formed DEI Committee for the balance of the Council year.
  • Denitha, Breau, Deputy Registrar, provided an update to the Task Group on the Equity and Inclusion Data Initiative, noting that College staff are consulting with key stakeholders, having conversations around the discussion paper and the draft Equity and Inclusion Data questions.
