Over the past year, the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (the College) has been conducting a comprehensive review of its Standards of Practice. The draft revisions to the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice are now ready and we invite you to share your input!
Once approved by Council, the revised Standards of Practice will impact every social worker and social service worker in Ontario, regardless of their area of practice. We want to ensure that the revisions to the Standards of Practice are informed by input from all registrants, who bring different lenses, perspectives, and lived experiences. We invite you to consider providing your feedback via the link below:
Standards of Practice Consultation Survey
The survey link can be accessed until March 2, 2023, and will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. We recommend that you set aside time before completing the survey to review the draft revisions to the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
The proposed updates reflect societal changes and current practices in the professions of social work and social service work. The revisions include:
- gender-neutral pronouns;
- a greater focus on diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging;
- more simplified language; and
- further clarification on some topics, in response to feedback from the first phase of registrant and stakeholder consultations.
Please note: The final revised Standards of Practice will also include links, where indicated, to relevant resources to further support registrants in their practice.
